4 Rivers Smokehouses Across Florida to Open on Sunday, Sept. 8, to Benefit Hurricane Dorian Relief Efforts in the Bahamas
The COOP will also open on Sunday to contribute the relief efforts
Winter Park, Fla.—Sept. 5, 2019 – Breaking from its “closed on Sunday” policy, all 4 Rivers Smokehouses in Florida (except downtown Orlando) and The COOP will open on Sunday, Sept. 8, to benefit relief efforts in the Bahamas, after Hurricane Dorian ravaged the island nation. Contributions from Sunday will be donated to World Central Kitchen, a not-for-profit organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters.
Each 4 Rivers Smokehouse will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer its regular dine-in, to-go and online menus. The COOP will serve its award-winning Southern cuisine from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will offer breakfast all day this Sunday. “As Floridians, we know all too well the destruction hurricanes can cause and it saddens us to see the devastation caused in the Bahamas by Dorian,” said John Rivers, 4 Rivers Founder/CEO. “Community is the core of our brand, so the entire 4R family is proud to contribute to relief efforts in the Bahamas by raising funds on Sept. 8 at our 4 Rivers Smokehouses and The COOP.”
The 4 Rivers Smokehouse and The COOP openings on Sept. 8 mark the first time 4R Restaurant Group venues will open statewide on a Sunday in the name of charity. On several previous occasions individual Smokehouses have opened on a Sunday to raise charitable funds, including after the Pulse Nightclub massacre in 2016; to support the families of slain Kissimmee Police Department Officer Matthew Baxter and Sgt. Richard “Sam” Howard in 2017; and following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fl. In 2018.
